Anybody ever changed one?

Alternator on my Girlfriends has gone and i just spent the past 4 hours looking at it and i have no idea where to even start. Doesn't look like there is any room for it to come out in any direction. Got me even thinking about doing the worst thing imaginable and putting it in a garage!

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

it will come out but they are a bastard. power steering pump off if i remember,then 3 bolts straight down for the alternator.engine mounting off so you can jiggle it about a bit and it should come out eventually.
are you sure the alternators gone? they are very prone for the wires coming out of the multiplug onto the alternator.give the wires a good tug and see if any of them are broken.

inlet mannifold comes off, it's not as bad as it looks to get off, two torx bits and the rest are 10mm bolts i think. but deffo check for broken wires.

theres a few ways of doing it,just did one other day,undid bolts on pwr steering pump to get acces to alt bolts,removed o/s inner arch panel and headlight and it will come out the headlight hole but takes a bit to get it at right angle
