even if it did happen in the center of london it would be a damn site better than if a nuclear station failed! And they do! Statistically The most likely fault is human, and we design, build and manage them. Give me wind anyday!

The braking mechanism that limits the speed of the wind turbine broke during a storm in Denmark. That was the outcome lol

that'll be the company I work for then

the gearbox inside the nacelle should be regulating how fast the turbine spins, looks like it failed big time. It can also can turn so it should have turned out of the wind rather than be facing the full force of it

also just for reference those bits that look like twigs that are flying around after the tower collapses are 40m long so you've got a pretty good idea of how far they were away from it (I would be too)
