Trade in value depends a lot on the value of what you trade in against.

If its some massively overpriced car you trade in against, they have more room to manouvre to give you a big trade-in on yours, but obviously they wont then haggle down to a sensible price on what you are buying.

would be looking at getting another mk3 mondeo, 2.0 tdci or depending on prices 2.2 tdci.

i only paid 1500 for it so aslong as i got 4 figures for it id be happy. 1200 was the maximum i had guessed...

best just go and have a word with them i supose.

think they do the 2.2 in the 'titanium', 'graphite' and one or two other similarly ghey sounding models! apparently superb engines/cars! can be remapped to 180+ bhp, silly torque and still return 600miles to a tank!

thats what id really want but i promised myself (and more importantly my mother!) that id get my debts gone before parting with more cash for a better car...

i paid £1500 for a y-reg 2.0ltr tddi estate ghia x it had 175k on it but honestly is mint body and leather interior fsh 1 years mot 9 month tax

but it really had seen better days to start in mornings and power wise

got a 52k engine for £550 and sold the old one for £350

so all in a good 6 year old motor for under £2000 and still havent seen one under £3000

i paid 1300 + fees for mine in december, posible i let the red mist decend a bit and let the excitement of the moment keep pushing my arm up in the air and paid slightly over the odds for auction prices but dont feel like i paid ott in reality.

Run around in it for 6-12 months and get your moneys worth stu, its not going to depriacate at all now really, so worth getting some use out of it.
Unless you just want a new car "because" as you are now earning good money of course.

my main reason for wanting to offload it is ive got a bad feeling the pump might be on its last legs, strange changes in tone/noise from the engine at the same time as a slight missfire and poor fuel econemy being the main two reasons.

it smokes everso slightly on startup aswlel meaning new stem seals which arnt going to be a pleasant job i dont imagine.

im not bothered about a newer/nicer car really, just dont want to be worrying about it needing loads of money thrown at it. in reality, if i chucked 400 or 500 quids worth of lower millage engine in it and had all the bushes changed there would be not alot else to go wrong and its still owe me under 2.5k....i just dunno if i can be arsed with the agro of an engine change with the fucker!

colcos, how easy was the engine swap? is it same setup as the mk2s with a subframe or no?
