Default Alarms/ insurance premium, much of a discount?

I recently changed my car, told them on the phone what the new car was, AND that it had a cat 1 alarm fitted, but it seems the dosey cow i was talking to quoted me(and put me down for) NOT having one installed

So i ring today and ask someone else and she went to speak to someone else and came back and told me right now having the cat 1 alarm would not make any difference to my premium, and that next time i renew i should tell them then

But my question is, do insurance companys actually give you enough discount to actually be bothered telling them you have one installed?
Right now it doesnt seem like it

I know normally your premium wouldnt change until you renew, but the fact you already told them it had a cat1, and they messed up, they should change your premium tbh cause its their messup

raise hell mate!

I had an alarm fitted to my mk3 Capri got a reduction of about 20£ over the year...

I think it depends how nickable the car is really..
