anyone have any idea whats worn or what to do to shut the bloody thing up??

its on a 4x4 saph. in 5th on the motorway at about 70-80mph the thing rattles really loud. if i hold it it shuts up. i have to drive with my hand glued to the gearstick.

Mine did it too mate! Think they all do! Some well placed silicon would cure it.

 

Yip mine did it too , i took the knob off and wrapped some ptfe tape around the spring which helped.
