Default Santa pod videos from this weekend

We finally got out £500 nova racer back out this weekend and took the camera with us to get some footage of it incase we killed it

Luckily everything went well and we had no breakages, the track had no grip though but were looking to dip into the low 12's on a good track now

4 vids below, 1 incar too

Most of the day was spent testing different gearchange theories which ended up getting us nowhere so we need to look into getting another gearbox or a chip with a higher rev limit (Stu )

Good to finally meet Ben (Gatecrasher) and the 2 other guys running the nova they picked up for £600 can't remember you usernames though

Thanks mate

No idea as yet with the other engine, we've only got as far as taking the caps off, swearing a bit then putting the engine in the corner

Were using the head off it on the engine in the car at the moment which seems to be working well

I've got to pick up another steel rod and then we can get on with rebuilding it

Cheers Cressy

In the last 2 videos were using 200hp jetting on the nitrous and running 12.5 @ 117 mph, the earlier runs we were using 130 shot and running 12.5 @ 112mph.

More nitrous meant more wheelspin

I look forward to having a prepped track to go back to

I still maintain there should be an 11 in that car ultimately.

What was your best 60ft on the day?

Should be doing 1.8s surely?

Danny - I did see you near the cafe but I was spilling several coffees over myself so I didn't stop

Chip- The track was crap, I think the best 60ft was 2 sec flat although on both 12.5 runs we ran a 2.1 60ft and last time out we were nearly in the 1.8's.

I tried using the gas in 1st but we barely had grip off gas lol

I would say considering the power it feels like its making that it will run a 11 IF we can get it to hook up.

We ran the 888's @ 11psi which was ok but the car was all over the place when on the gas, both of us nearly lost it on a run so we'll try more pressure next time.

I don't think monday at Brunters will show what the car is capable of but everyone will suffer grip issues if its a fwd only day.

No problem mate, its good racing 4x4's as you obviously have the edge off the line leaving us to play catch up

I raced a Evo which left me for dead off the line but I seriously thought he had slammed the brakes on when I come past him

I don't think its any louder than some of the stuff that goes up Brunters tbh, I can guarantee every vauxhall that is going is louder than ours.

We'll have to see what its like on the day, changing the jets did certainly make it a lot louder, the 13.2 vid was with 130 shot, the external 12.5 filmed from the same point was 200 shot, every time I watch it I can't believe the noise it makes

Whats the limits at Brunters ?

Depends what mood they are in. Generally lately, that answer will be bad.

Think officially its 89 but they let you get away with about 95.
Not 100% sure where the noise meters are tho.

We've times FWD cars there at 165odd that have been quiet as a mouse, but if you trip the noise meter its totally game over there.

I'm confident that it will be ok, high boost turbo engine are usually louder unless you have a high revving tb'd engine or something, which we don't.

The car runs a Magnex with 3 boxes.

95 isn't that bad, 85 is Bedford track limits and judging on how badly everyone got on there I'm not that confident now either

We better make sure the 1st run is a good one

I've just had the email, were going to sort out the exhaust somehow, obviously we can't add anymore boxes but we can either use a plate or maybe make a pipe that faces the floor like Euans

We'll get it sorted though

When your building a car on a budget of £500 you'll paint it in whatever colour your given, everything to paint the car was free thanks to a few mates
