right im fed up of the screen freezing and the only way i can get out of it is to switch the dam thing off

tried to register for a repair but it says im out of warranty lol

anyone done this before and had to pay ? if so how much ?

also its not the 3 red lights, its done it on 3 games now, on and off xbox live and ive also tried wireless network and also wired into the router

Sounds like the early days of ring of death exactly same issue with mine, leave it on a bit more and the ROD will come soon. I repaired mine for £30 before MS offered the extended warranty wish I hadnt though as was problems ever after, if I was you I would wait for the 3 red lights and get MS repair.

As said above Microsoft have extended the warrenty so worth checking, as yours may now be covered, especially as the freezing later results in the 3 red lights...

If its in warrenty Microsoft will repair for free, if its out of warrenty it will cost you about 75 euros (from memory).

I have just sent one away, but was about to download one of the fix guides on the net. They say they are a guarenteed long term fix but I was reluctant to have ago because a soon as the sticker round the case is removed its no longer under warrenty. If yours is out of warrenty anyway it may be worth a go? If you do go down that route I would be nteredted to know how you get on

If it was me though I would probably pay microsoft to do it and have a definite fix that doesn't damage anything else.

it is covered under the extended warranty so it is very soon going to get the 3 red lights lol

The 3 red lights issue is usually caused by over heating, so i guess you could speed that issue up with the help of a towel etc... (although if you believe the youtube vids thats also a way to fix it )

If you look at a few of the websites that offer a download pdf fix guide, you can subscribe to some of them for free and they will send you the major causes of the problem over 3-4 e-mails - worth doing so you can take the precautions once you have it back from microsoft and its approaching the end of its arrenty.
