Agreed the puma looks and sounds and go's like a complete weapon....

Would like to see the thing do a proven 1.8 to 60 though

My guess is, it's probably like or a similar principle to an afterburner on a jet engine....

Cool, seen the car loads, but never seen this vid before.

Basically a jet turbine works just like a turbo, and can easy use the massive amount of exhaust gas from the turbine to feed the turbine (or HELP) feed the turbine of the cars actual turbo.

Ie its got a turbine feeding (maybe with a Y-piece so exhaust gas from engine can help too) the turbos turbine, meaning the turbo is always at full boost (or whatever needed for the revs, easy controlled by wastegate) all the time regardless of revs or throttle position.

Not that hard

The vid makes out like the heli turbine feeds the engine itself, im pretty sure it dont, it just feeds the turbo exhaust gas to keep it spooled....

So basically I was right... It's like an afterburner

Err, not really, as its not got an afterburner and doesnt create thrust as such, just exhaust gas

Ok, rather a preburner burner then? in effect it's a twin turbo, the turbo jet is feeding the car turbo...

Yeah I suppose using an afterburner was the wrong way round, but I knew what I meant.

It is proven IIRC. Its not a huge deal for a mega power car on slicks to do that times or faster.

Ah good.
I mean getting on for 1000bhp per tonne at a wild guess, slicks, 4x4, TC, anti lag, x-trac magic, and 60 achievable in first gear, should hope it could do that

Twin turbo BDT? RS200's weren't twin turbo were they? BTS's were inline 4 cly right? Hows a twin turbo set up work on that - sequential inline turbo's?

Last time I saw it it had single turbo, may be a mistake.

Might be twin turbo tho, who knows, could be 2cyls per turbo, could be sequential, could be compund charged, just s it 4cyl dont matter.

No I realise that, just would have thought that a 1700cc 4cyl wouldn't have flowed enough air to warrent two cyl per turbo is all.....

Probably cos I don't know as much about engines as you do? And I based it, uneducatedly on the fact that a 1700cc engine flows a releatively small ammount of air comparred to something like, I dunno, a Supra that is 3000cc, which runs two turbo's. Or a Skyline that is 2600cc with two turbo's.... And the fact you hardly ever see 2litre and below lumps with 2 turbo's......

Doing 9second quarter miles on a non-drag strip (Brighton sea front was it not?) Then id think it would pull sub 2second 0-60 quite happily baring in mind as Stav said its a race car on slicks.

looks really cool.

An afterburner ignties fuel as it leaves the exhaust to increase thrust, hence the massive flames you see on the jet drag cars etc

Yeah Sorry... I knew how an afterburner works, the name gives it away, I was just sorta trying to make sense how the one turbo (jet turbine) was basically feeding the second. (I failed)
