I think this has just explained something that me and my mate were very confussed about!
We have been working on his RS 500 cleaning it up underneath and upon removal of the beam there were no bushes to be found! Just solid metal and, believe it or not, a piece of tyre side wall between the beam and the floor! !
Would you say this fits in with your explanation?
We were totally puzzled as to why it was like this!!!

My 3 door track car does it if i adjust the stiffness on the coilovers to hard ,,just softern them and it wil be perfect ,, It does it because the sus is that hard it makes the tyres act as suspension and will fook all the bushes

my c/overs are set pretty soft (only way to stop my teeth rattling out!) and still does it
infact im not a big fan of my suspension really, it doesnt make for a very comfy road car... to get the thing nice-ish to drive ive had to raise it up quite high (to stop it catching on rebound) and set the suspension pretty soft, still nice nice to drive over non-perfect road surfaces should i move to softer springs?
my car is a ROAD car, thats used for driving to work etc. and will OCCASIONALLY be used for a track day (maybe once or twice a year) so i really want it as comfy as possible... i dont corner hard either, as i'm not confident with carrying speed thru corners on public roads... to many "what ifs"
