Default sport cats

or just cats in general. on some zetecs, the cat is on the downpipe, and others its after and underneath the sump. does having the cat in different places affect the performance? just wondering whether i would be best off having a miltek turbo down pipe with a sport cat in it, or having a decat pipe with the cat in a later place in the exhaust

The primary thing you have to remember is, the further away from the manifold, the longer it will take for the Cat to heat up, so when you do take it for an MOT make sure the car is running at full working temp, and if the guy testing the car is not aware of where the cat is positioned prior to him doing the test, tell him that the car needs to be hot as you've relocated the Cat, in theory the car is supposed to be tested at full working temp... But the last 2 times I took mine it was the first thing they did, and it failed - Until I pointed out that the Cat was not in the correct position and it was not at working temp, they tested it again after the car had been running for a while and it passed with flying colours.

As above, the closer the cat is to the manifold the more effective it will be as it will get hotter. Some Zetec's have the cat in the manifolds now!!
