me... Yes and no, I got a mondeo TD 1.8 mk2, not mega to insure, but still £500 a year as I only got 1 set of no claims, so thats £50 a month ish, nother lot of tax, nother lot of MOT etc, but it's great as I can leave it anywhere and not give a shit, I carry loads of dirty car bits in it and don't care, and it gets all its spares from scrappers or as cheap as possible ...
I would say its only worth it for 200+ miles a week or if you do lots of short trips to save fucking your good car

Ive got an audi a4 tdi avante, 50+mpg, totally reliable so far, comfy and handles surprisingly well too given its size, mind you on the downside its slow
overall though, definately better than driving something nice day to day and wrecking it and spending a fortune on fuel IMHO

sold the cossie, and driving the fiesta got bored of it so bought a Focus RS
best of both worlds

I got a little 1.8 fiesta diesel to run about in to work and that.
Cosmetically she is a right state, however the engine is sound and just keeps going.
Plus if anyone try's to get to close i just put my foot down and smoke um...literally

Yep got an Audi A6 2.5 V6 TDI Avant.
Loads of space, comfy as hell and surprisingly quick with the tiptronic box.
Only got it when I realised that I had put 16k on the 200 estate's new engine in 8 months!!!!!!!!!!

I've got a Passat tdi with 166k miles on. Works everytime, does 50+ to the gallon, only costs me £250 to insure (I'm 25) and even doesn't come off too badly when an artic lorry runs in the back of me like yesterday!
It's a bloody tank!

106 is a cracking little car
just don't let any water get to the immobiliser connection as it's a right pain to get it to start then
we used to run them ragged and they still took the abuse thrown at them by loads of drivers all rushing to and from shifts
get a basic one and it's got even less wieght to hold it down, then drop in a td lump and you won't want to have he decent car for much longer

i do, bought a 205 TD for 350 quid...........
started life like this.....
unfortuanatly, having a mate who tunes derv pugs for a hobby, and being into rallying, has meant it now looks like this.............
so much for a standard run about.

It's definitely worth doing imo
I've been using my s2 for work for the last 2 months and it's been expensive
I could insure and fuel my old 306 for less than half of what it's costing me at present, have been after another since xmas, but not seen one as cheap as my old one-it was pretty rough though

My diesel shitters of past have always been great value - especially the £80 ford escort TD with 5 months tax
plus a shitter is great fun to drive as you can just thrash and abuse the fuck out of it without a care in the world
