Default Great day for the bikes....just not mine

All was going well for the first 2 hours of a good run out with my mate, both on zx7r's
got some good twistys in and some great straights... then on my way home down the M45 at well over the speed limit being a nobber of course my engine decided to let go at 14000 rpm with a masive huge clowd of blue smoke.... and then just instantly seized solid .... that was brown pants time for me... if i wasnt as quick as i was on to the clutch i wouldnt be here now at all... im sure of it.. my god it shit me up... my mate went thru the smoke fearing the worst and saw i was on the hard shoulder coasting to the next junction...

then to top it all off.... i pullled up,, well rolled up anyway and went to put me foot down..... oh dear it slipped and i drop the bike on its side on the gravel and completely stuff a side panel, oh and my screen.. what a DICK ... im gutted, i loved that old 7r...

the bike will live mate. you wouldn't have been if you didn't react the way you did.

bike is fixable, you aren't at 14000rpm and god knows what speed

Well done for keeping it upright at that speed with a seized engine mate, could have been bad that, glad your ok.

Proper scary stuff. Did it give any warning signs at all just before it let go?

Incidently, if its the RH side theres fairing in green on ebay now for Ł99 if it helps. Sods law says its the LH side though.

ive got the local body shop to repair the panel... hes done it before lol... ive put a bid on a few engines on the bay.... thanks for looking tho mate...

it seems the cam chain tensioner gave up and caused a mishap.. so the engine is buggerd... oh well, i love the bike so i will fix it,

i had a moment of clarity today tho... i was a lucky boy, very lucky

bad news, could have been much worse!

my old thundercat had a similar thing at 70, nailed it off from the lights and was just slowing down from around a ton when bang...

the clutch pressure plate lug with the spring on broke off, and then in turn mashed the inside of the clutch casing and totally destroyed the clutch thus locking the rear wheel

unfortunatly grabbing the clutch lever done fuck all as it was solid

somehow i managed to keep the bike upright and skidded from the right hand lane accross to the left and the bike came to a stop with both wheels agains the kerb.

couldnt even pull it onto the grass as it was jammed solid

that was a pant satiner

Fukin el, at least your not hurt and the bikes fixeable.

Cam chain tensioners seem quite common on kwaks, worth doing for around 30quid.
