Default Who's liable...

My brother had a new alternator fitted at the local garage. It's lasted about 3 weeks and packed up. I presume it's covered by a warrenty but what about fitting. It's not really the garages fault but it's not my brothers either.

What usually happens in these cases? Who pays for the replacement one to be fitted?

Garage, they will have to claim it back from the manufacturer if it turns out to be a manufacturers fault

The point is WHO paid for the replacement to be fitted, if it was the customer then it is down to the garage, any loss they might incur they will have to take up with the alternator supplier.
