Reports have emerged revealing a number of new bits of tech that make sure the big Nissan will be an extremely tough nut to crack for anyone wanting to tinker with it.
Aftermarket alloys look like they are out, confirming rumours circulating the Tokyo motor show.
A sensor is understood to be mounted on the valve stem and if the car is fitted with new rims an error code appears on the dash.
The new GT-R wont allow custom exhausts either as any modification to the intake system causes the ECU to go haywire.
We reported a few weeks back that the car will remove its speed limiter when the car arrives at a track.
Well, not only will the track have to be a Nissan approved track, not any old circuit, but owners are required to head over to a Nissan High Performance Centre for a Ł500 safety check afterwards.
If this is not done the car will make sure the warranty is void.

Why make it so hard to tune? I understand they're trying for a 911 calibre market but they would have hardly ANY sales of the old cars if they weren't tunable. Not just through direct sales to people who want to tune them but also due to the fact that people like Top Secret give the skyline huge amounts of free marketing for example. Absolutely crazy in my eyes.

they sold hundreds of thousands of them, WAY more than the later ones, and back when they was for sale they was considered VERY hard to tune in similar ways to the new one is.
there were no mega power ones when they were new barring the race cars, same as Supras, RX7s, Cossies, anything.
even these days most skyline "specialists" consider the stock managment unmappable, which is totally wrong, if you know what you doing.
will be exactly the same with the new one.
