I never disputed that he created the first working set, only that the website states Scottish Inventions and the principle behind sending pictures down a wire was not something Baird invented, if this is the case how do you explain the the patent for the transmission of photographs by wire made on December 2, 1922 by Edwin Belin.
Read the patent, its a legally standing historic document... Wikipedia is not

However...
I don't take scottish notes in my business as we have had loads of snides in the past. I am pretty far down south and we rarely see them so I can't expect my staff to know the difference between a real one and a fake. I have taken them myself as I know what they look like. Scots do tend to flip out when you tell them you can't take it, what they don't seem to understand is that if I take a fake note and then try to bank it I lose the money. Why should I take the risk?
Incedently I have had a English note refused more than once in Scotland, so it cuts both ways.

Can I just say that I am absolutely appalled at some of the stuff being written on here. Some of the name calling and down right insulting comments (from both sides) are bang out of order. I am a Scottish Nationalist, I believe that Scotland would be better off looking after our own affairs, that doesn't mean I automatically hate England and all Englishmen. Quite the opposite to be honest. Half my family are from Shepherds Bush in London, I even spent some time down there myself. I just believe that at the present time the better option is for the Scots to go alone. An increasing amount of people are beginning to feel the same way.
As a previous poster has highlighted, many reports are now becoming avaliable under the Freedom of Information Act which show actual findings from the investigations which took place years ago. During that time many people tried to get the truth out but were silenced by the british government.
These are the questions that should be getting asked. Why did the British Government lie to its people? Why were the facts hidden away? That's where your anger should be directed.
There now seems to be a situation arising where people have believing what they have been getting spoon fed for years, and it's about to backfire on the government big style. For years the government have spread rumours to scare the Scots into staying within the Union. What they didn't bank on was the English to take them on board and say 'well lets get rid of the Scots' 'why are we paying for free prescriptions' etc etc
Alex Salmond is a very clever politician, probably the best of his generation, and it is no coincidence that these issues have come about during his leadership of the SNP.
England is drowning itself in problems, the social services are being overun, the NHS is bursting at the seams, we cannot recruit for the forces, house prices are out of control, tide after tide of immigrants are flooding into the south coast and working there way up country. The government need to deflect the attention onto something/someone else - Scotland.
