does anyone make carbon fibre bonnet vents for a series 2?

to make stuff in composite is not as easy as some people may think. thats why not that many people have the necessary skill or knowledge. imo a s2 bonnet vent is quite a complicated shape and probably would come out rubbish unless you had been working with composite for years.

it does take practice, but its not impossible,
ive made a few parts this week!

ill try and get them home tomorrow,,
ive just been working on a speaker conversion plate on the mini, you cant even see them when fitted, but i know that they are there so i machined a mold, and vac bagged some carbon over it

the hoover vac bags are very unreliable, i tried them a la pikey, they work once or twice then wont hold a vacuum after that,

better to go the whole hog and buy a vacuum bagging system but it isnt cheap by any shot

matt you would be impressed what i used this week. my 18 grand vacuum leak detector, which has got a turbomolecular pump, i was a bit nervous about using it as i didnt know if the gases given off with curing epoxy was going to poison the helium detection cell LOL

i also wired up a edwards CM80 (80 cubic meters and hour pumping rate) to use, but i didnt use it as it was too noisy in the workshop, and i would of disturbed my break PMSL
