Default self employed people, what things do you claim tax back on?

im just wondering what you guys put in to claim tax back on, i.e diesel, insurance, clothes, tools etc etc, reason being the tax man likes to get greedy and for obvious reasons id like to try and hold on to as much of my earnings as poss and was wondering if there were things i could be putting reciepts in for? cheers

i'm in a very similar situation with my self employed business (i'm also employed full time) - how much does an accountant cost roughly?

How much do you have to turn over to be V.A.T registered, or can you go VAT registered on any size business?

If any of you want any tax advise or are looking for an accountant then drop me a PT.

My wife and I run our own business specialising in the smaller business and are always willing to help.

Thats where the user name comes from as its the company name. Bookwyse.

Jeff
