tipper problem

hi. i just got a transit tipper and when i got it it was fine but now when i got load on the back its runs so slow i could get out and carry the bricks quicker!! anybody think it could need a new diesel pump??

mate i work at a scrapyard, and the amount of of them vans that come in with scrap and have the tipper broken is crazy!

'alright mate, could you grab this bit of steel off the back of the wagen, the tipper aint working'

if i had a quid for everytime someone said that to me, id be able to buy the fuckers a new one

if its a new gen with bosch pump, run some injector cleaner in the diesel, remove the intake pipe look inside see the butterfly flap, remove it and bin it, (two small torx) diesel filter, and turn the midrange fueling up a tad, top of pump is a round disc prise it out you will see a allen key bolt in middle locked in place with a 13mm nut, sometimes you can turn the allen key without undoing the nut, you need to turn it clockwise one full turn some ppl do it 1.5 turns i only do it one



all of the above will bring your baby back to life, if it has a banana manifold remove it and clean all the shit out inside, it will smoke less also

i do it to all the transits ive owned, as there recovery trucks i need clean running reliable trucks that go well, it really does make a big difference. other one is to check the pump timing and valve clearances

what year / engine does this apply too? i have just put a deposit on a 1999 flareside non turbo?
