Default Sent Recorded Post - Now Missing Post ?

I sent my vehicles reg docs and number plate retension papers for a plate transfer mid December last year
The papers were sent 1st class recorded post, but DVLA Luton say they never received them
True the tracking number still shows as not being delivered, so is it worth me now chasing compensation from royal mail?
So far I’ve had to pay for a duplicate MOT but was lucky as DVLA sent me a duplicate registration document free, but they tell me I will need to pay for a duplicate retension certificate still!
Obviously this is after making numerous phone calls and wasting my time.
Will it be worth claiming against the missing papers even tho I cant put a true price on them?
Anyone claimed for something like this before from Royal mail?

Put a claim in because it should have been there by now. Unfortunately Recorded only means a signature on delivery, it goes with the regular post through the system.
Remember next time to use Special Delivery.

In fairness when it works it's good, you can go online and see who signed for it and when. When it fails, like in your case, it's a major inconvenience and someone else loses their faith in the Royal Mail.

As long as you can document £34 worth of loss.

Special Delivery for that would have been around £4.50 and WELL worth it if its important. That's how we sent our passport applications last year, its super reliable in my experience. I use it for anything up to 2kg.
