Default A question for engine builders??

Can i ever expect to get decent piston ring sealing when useing secondhand pistons/rings in a freashly honed bore?

The pistions/rings are low mileage with good square edges on the rings.

Yes of course if the wear is minimal....

I have often used 2nd hand pistons in a fresh bore

Yes the pistons are good, its bedding in the partly used rings that i'm worried about.

Its a fairly budget build engine and the second hand pistons are only Ł100 but new rings are Ł220.

Not sure. Don't have the pistons yet.

Bandit 1200 engine. Stock Hayabusa pistons. They are forged from the factory and happily take 300+ bhp in turbo busa's with a base gasket spacer.

Because of their bigger dish they actually lower the cr of the bandit lump and retait a reasonable squish.
