Default fao people with bonnet raisers?

Im thinking of putting some bonnet raisers on my mk3 escort, but instead of buying some im going to go for the cheap arse way and make some out of some box section lol, what i was wondering is how long and wide are they im planning on using some 2x2 box section but im not sure if this will be big enough to raise the bonnet lol, so could anyone wip out the old tape measure n help me out . . . . please??

you will be forever plagued with people saying "'scuse me mate, your bonnet is open"

Looks wank IMHO . Only needed where underbonnet temps are a REAL problem.
