are they all pretty much similar going back to the Escort right up to the mk1 focus?
Just wondering if it would be a straight swap into my Escort should the engine expire at any point, what would be needed from the donor car/breakers to do the swap?

It goes all the way back to the OHV lump in early 80s mk3 escorts too!
The basic engine, called the Lynx, the same. But watch out for wether its common rail (TDCi) or rotary pump (TDi).
