pete apparently the head and block face has to absolutly prestine and 100% flat for these to work properly, or so i was once told.

Why dont you just bite the bullet and take the head off, its going to have to come off anyway

Mine obviously wernt the first time i took it over 140 it was white steam every where

You only have problems with them if they ae incorrectly fitted, or have a fault with them. I have only heard of two having faults (out of hundreds fitted), so I would be more inclined to believe you have a cracked block or head.

Pete, you know you have a problem(no not that one )

Bite the bullit and get the head off it ,the problem aint going to go away
At least then you know one way or another, get the head checked and the block. If they are ok all you need is a new gasket

...........the first thing i said was.....what if the turbo water jacket is cracked and leaking boost into the cooling system.....every body said....."no way".....so i'm trying that next and removing the water to the turbo........

I have had 2 gaskets fail, 1 had a couple of long studs sitting slightly proud of the block which caused the fault, The other had no apparent fault other than the engine was biult 7 years before.

......blowing rad up.......4 infact...........no over heating, no exhaust gases in water, no oil/water, no stains on the block......but the more power/boost i give it....the more pressure in the system, take it easy and no pressure................head fuck

My mates is different to that. No oil contamination etc and wont overheat when its being hammered. Then it will just get hot at random times when sitting at 40-60mph.

Gatecrasher had this happen to his car - it turned into a chu-chu train . Disconnecting the water from the turbo cured the problem.....

would depend where any crack is as to what the symptoms would be

a fault between the water jacket and the turbine side would result in a loss of water and a lot of steam out of the exhaust

a fault on the compressor side would also lead to water loss off boost (with the water being sucked into the engine and creating steam out of the exhaust) and possible pressurisation of the cooling system (although it runs at similar pressure to boost pressure anyway)

either way, doesn't particularly sound like that is pete's problem

...so its just pressure yes?..no oil in water?..no water in oil?..is it using any water at lower boost?

..edit just read that to be the case

Test's need to be done.

* Possible faults

coolant temps
Head/block crack,
Headgasket,
Turbo core
Header cap ratings, but if nothing else wrong, wont be a issue

1st off i'd do a

- check the coolant system is running at sensible temps, 87-94oC.
- Comp test
- Pressure check each cylinder @ 100+psi for at least 30 mins each, with gauge on coolant system,
- Coolant system pressure test, inc testing the header cap rating.
- take the car for a spin with pressure gauge on coolant, and if it goes above 5psi on normal driving @ normal running temps, and below 15 psi on a little thrash.

=
If coolant pressure dont move on cyclinder press test, then usually the h/g, head and the block is fine.
If coolant pressure jumps up after a/few short blasts, then the h/g, head, block or turbo fault.
