Default Do you think this is wrong?

disowning a mate because of something they "do" which i find totally wrong?

This is in YOUR opinions, not going by a rule book which you think we should all adhere to

As the guy above says, how bad is/was it.
If he's plumming your mum or sister then so be it, if its farting on public transport then your being abit harsh.

Again depends.....

1) How long have they been your mate?
2) Are they a family friend also?
3) Is what they are ding directly affecting you or just insulting you?
4) Is what they are doing illegal?
and lastly
5) Is what they are doing 'that' bad enough to lose a good friendship over?

Depends. If its drugs or summat it may be worth trying to help before walking away. If its theft or I.D. fraud or some other crime report them and walk away.

What is the 'thing' anyway?

We can't really give you an opinion on what to do if we don't know the full details to give a judgement on the severity of said 'thing'.

then why put up the post...?

How can someone possibly comment whether you should lose a good friend over something that they "do"..? Do they abuse kids..? in that case, yes fuck them off and report then prompto.. or do they pick there nose in front of you... in which case, bit sad to loose a mate over that..

you know what I'm getting at... this post is pointless without stating the "do" bit

Which in moderation, and if you dont let it take over your life, and you save it for special occasions, theres nothing wrong with IMO

its hard to say without knowing what it is, but your morals are what make you, if the thing he does is going to affect you, and make you do things you don't want to do, its not worth being associated with him.
does he know you don't like what he is doing?

i once disowned a 'mate' not because he done anything i didnt agree about, more because he was a cunt

worked with him for a number of years etc and got on very well, went out on the piss etc etc..

he ended up a fucking liability and would constantly borrow money etc with no thought to pay back.

gladly he got the sack from the company and we gradually lost contact.

not seen him for a few years and i can say that i am better off imo

I wonder how your mate would feel if he knew his friendship with you was being debated on an internet forum. If I was him, regardless of what I had done, I would be walking away.

As said above, without knowing this guys crime (morally or legally), then none of us can really give an opinion that you could justify using, when deciding whether to ditch said person or not.

That said, I think maybe you should just give them a slap but stay friends.

Simple truth

Its not a matter of legality, its a matter of do you want to get away from something you dont want to be associated with

I'd go with this view. I've just fucked someone off, a guy who I thought was a real friend......who I then found out has been pulling a flanker financially off of me and not telling. Ripped me and 2 others and thought he could get away with it and not get caught. Thought he was cleverer than me and I'd never find out.

But I did.

I don't need to know what it is they have done, you have said it's totally wrong so I know as much as I need to. Fuck him off mate. Remember though, lots of people might not think it's wrong, but you do.

It was more a general opinion on what would you do if a mate did something YOU think is totally wrong, rather than "what should I do" type of post.

If i was asking that then of course id be stupid for not saying what they did

So what you are asking is, what would WE do if someone WE knew did something WE thought was wrong, so what has happend to you is more or less irrelevant? Am I right?
