please help clutch pedal on a freelander

Default please help clutch pedal on a freelander

when driving for a while somtimes when press the cluch down it will not come back up but if you pull it back up with foot it works fine again for a while it seems to do it more when the car is warm
the car is 2001 1.8gs freelander

Had this on a cavalier, the clutch cable fork rod thing that goes into box seized, poured oil down it and all was well.
Would think at that age is hydraulic though.

sounds stupid but you dont have any mats or carpet sticking out anywhere do you? weve had this at work and thats been the problem wouldnt of thought anything could of sezied as it should be hydraulic. put abit of grease on the joint above the pedal where it moves

Will be the clutch hydraulics at fault mate - probably clutch master cylinder - I'd try replacing it, changing the fluid & then obviously bleed the system thoroughly!!

i have worked on a few of these at work before and the bracket which the clutch slave cylinder goes on breaks check this first mate as there only about 18 pound from land rover

Ive done loads of these pal, the slave and master cylinder are sealed, you cant do anything with them. They are around £70 new and come all as a unit including the joining pipe all bled up and fluid filled... You just clip it in both ends and depress the pedal and it brakes a plastic clip in the slave end and pops out. All done!
