I know a friend in cyprus that had his hayabusa turbo'd and along with some other bits and pieces. Goes from 200-300km/h as quick as it goes from 0-100km/h

And all you see is sky sky sky sky and then a blur as everything comes hurtling towards you

Never been on it and don't plan to either

Its scary the amount of people that don't wear helmets.

But in cyprus they REALLY do know how to mod properly. I've seen quite a few NOS'd bikes in cyprus over the years but the turbo'd hayabusa is going to take some beating. The marina at night particularly finnikoudes is a hotspot for modded cars. Saw 5 parked evos one night there

round a track a turbo'd hayabusa would get killed by certain track cars so no good in this thread

Still probably one of the cheapest options though and more than likely the most fun. If you like a turbo surge on a car imagine what its going to feel like on two wheels

But yeah not necessarily the fastest

I would love to hear your ideas, Benni.
It's obvious from your post that you have NEVER done a track day, as having the fast / quickest car on track is more boring than watching paint dry .

I recently did a track day at Snetterton, and in the morning, my car was the quickest thing there bar a Radical*. It made the morning THE most boring time I have spent on a track day that I have EVER been on . It was only made exciting in the afternoon when Gary turned up in his Evo VII, sporting 580bhp, shorter gearing, similar weight, identical tyres but inferior brakes. We then spent a few laps dicing with each other, which was great fun (cut short by my car's intermittant cutting out problem, which has since been traced to a fuel pump relay not man enough for the job ).

My most memorable track day ever, was at ND a few years ago, when I spent several laps chasing Dave in his Escort, and we were completely evenly matched. My car is obviously better specced (according to him ), but the playing field was levelled with him running slicks, whilst I was on full treaded road tyres (albeit VERY good ones ). I drove the absolute tits off the car to stay with him, and it was only towards the end of the session, when my tyres started to go off and we got seperated by traffic, that he managed to pull a few car lengths away. This was all supposed to be captured by Justin in his red Escort on video, as we nominated him to be camera car, due to the fact that he had 60bhp more than Dave and I, an R&D 1:1 direct drive top gear and Dunlop DZ02G track day tyres, so we thought that he would have no problem keeping up. However, we got so wrapped up in a little "duel", that he only managed to stay with us for a couple of laps, and then we slowly, but surely pulled a big lead on him . Obviously it was so good, because I was able to trust Dave's driving and know that we could drive so hard and closely without any problems. However, if one of us had had a monster engine, slicks, dogbox etc and had pissed off into the distance never to be seen again, it would have been rubbish and would not have stuck in my mind (in the same way as overtaking an RS Turbo whilst on track is insignificant and totally forgettable ). If I went to a track day in a Radical SR8 or the like, and monstered everything, I would come away from the track bored out of my skull.

Sorry for the ramble, but my favourite track day would be for everyone in equally powered cars .

*Where if I was in front and discourteous, he would NOT have been able to overtake, as I was CONSIDERABLY faster down the straights - however, as I know from my last engine how frustrating it is to be quicker through the corners but slower on the straights, once he was close enough, I indicated, came off the throttle and let him past down the back straight, as I knew the next sequence of corners after that, he would pull a significant enough of a lead for me to not be held up down the main straight.

Thats you opinion Gaybum i for one would love a car that can totaly mash everything/one on the track just to fight it out with my self and my own track times if i wanted to play with the slower people i would just ease up a bit im sure the Hard core track nutters would soon catch up and start to put preasure on making me more agressive Lucky for me my car has 200HP less than you and i have 11 years less expiriance on the track so i think its safe to say i am not going to have a boaring day like you did at snet EVER

I have to agree with Mike, well matched cars are more fun.

A few years ago me and a mate took our 2l novas to a airfield trackday, my car had Reyland brakes, his had nitrous

I have never had so much fun on a trackday ever since, He just couldn't get past me, but then I couldn't really get away from him, 20 or so laps in we came onto the main straight and he added his secret 100hp

The rest was history

I have driven a Atom on track and tbh even with myself driving and it not being my car I was miles faster than anything on track, and that was just with a 250hp NA Type R lump ! let alone the supercharged engine it has in it now

I'd rather take something less powerful and push the big power cars round all day than take something with massive power and not really proove anything except how fucking mental it is on the straights

on the other hand i know what your saying but this post was about buying the fastest car you can to win a race i wouldnt settle for as fast as everyone else if i could be faster Maybe when im quick on the track down to my driving and not the power of the car my outlook on being on the track may change! who knows

Most trackdays now dont actually allow you to perform the outbreaking and overtaking manouvres on corners that make closely matched cars so interesting sadly.

I havent had anywhere near as much fun on track in the last 10 years or so since the rules all got tightened up.

You used to be able to basically race on trackdays, you cant now really.

So really the best answer, would be spend 10K on a competitive car in a fiarly low level single make championship and spend the other 40K on campaiging it for a couple of years
