focus ST170 or the newer turbo one?
also surely its budget dependant
i have driven all of the above.
rs turbo....ok drive if you find a nice one, rattles and squeaks and stuff breaks
cossie.....great drive, late ones have all the toys, but they make you paranoid and arent really suitable for everyday use....unless you dont car about it
Focus ST170.......drives ace, looks nice, and really well built. (good with leather and climate) just feel a little lethargic compared to the above 2 and dont stand out in a crowd

ST is a nice piece of kit but the quickness can soon be sorted if you get a wolf 285 converted one. there's a few around. there's a red one on pistonheads at the moment. Few mods here and there on the ST and you can easily see 260-270bhp. But its a hell of a lot more money to start with but will probably last you a lot longer than an RS or a cossie and obviously is newer.
Up to you though. And just to add something else lol, why not try a Focus RS? Cheaper than an ST and still an RS

ST if its for an everyday car without question. I wouldnt want a cosworth or a an rs turbo for an everyday car that you have to rely on 100% to get you to work.
To be honest though, id be looking at other makes myself.

I would love another RST, but if I had the choice of a 20 year old bean tin, or a new Focus ST, it'd be the ST EVERY time.
The only reason I'd want a tenth RST would be to look at, maybe take to shows every once in a while

The ST is bloody good car!! You don't get that old school kick in the back from turbo lag though, which I realy do miss.
I've never been lucky enough to drive, or even be driven , in a cossie, but the respect of these cars should tell you to snatch one up if you ever get the chance of owning one.
How about a nice VXR...

E39 M5 rather than a focus ST
just avoid the fucking shitty wood dash that they seem to come with on the cheeper end ones
evo sounds great and all that,,, but a M5 might be a better drivers car
though ive yet to drive either to be qualified to answer that
