not as happy as I used to be with it to be honest.

it seems more kinda matey matey and banter than cars.


loved the recent threads on the electronics stuff (techedge etc) that people are working on.

love the messing around and random banter and mickey taking. (i.e. the what dvd etc... the i've blown my house up how do i fix it ones!! top stuff cant get that hardly anywhere else on the net!)

but anything car related seems to be either people tip toeing around things and holding back on suggesting things for fear of people ripping them... or..... they are just ones that are ripping people.


i've seen it better on here than it is at the moment, thats all in my opinion.

IMO i initially came on here for help, which YOU DO NOT GET unless you drive something with the mighty costin and duckworth badge, now dont get me wrong, some peeps do help to the best they can, but the likes of some people on here (not gonna start putting names etc) only take the piss and say, its shit, dont bother/buy a cossy....

not everyone is in a finacial situation to purchase and run/build a fast rs etc (however in a few years i WILL own a cossy)

basically for peeps like me i just get the piss taken out of on threads i start or just usless drivel thats no good to anyone.

if anyone replys....

ive met a few peeps from here and those that i have are top blokes!!!

i think this site is ace for the following reasons

1) if i come across a problem when doing stuff to my car, then i can bet i can get the answer to fix it on here,

2) if i eed a part, like the standard cossie boost hoses, peeps who you know thru this site (cheers spagerooni) can sort it

3) you can ask pretty much anything on here and get an answer, I asked about plumbing, bodybuilding to name 2,

this site to me is only as good as what you put into it, so i try to help peeps if i can also

Perhaps I'm just suffering from BBS fatigue... after being on the RSOC BB for years and then PF since the start recently its lost its appeal...

Do look back on the early days with Big Nige, Cola, Dingu, Chop, James2wd, Nathan, JasonP, USL, Popeye et al.... but then these things cant go on for ever I suppose.

i couldnt be happier with the site, ive managed to source parts for my car i thought i would never find, bought things, received advice and met a couple of cool people who were only too happy to introduce me to a few more! i think this site is unique and everyone on here makes it what it is, even the argueing etc which does not bother me tbh.

i think that there's been too much moderation lately. if people want to have an argument, fight, war or whatever you want to call it, let them get on with it. until it all comes out, it will not stop anyway. best to get it out of the way, instead of the constant little jibes that will otherwise go on forever. those doing it will either learn to accept the other persons opinion, or get bored if nobody rises to it.

if it starts happening in a thread, it's easy to not continue to read it if you're not interested.

anyway, it's like being back at school when there was a fight in the playground. everyone liked to crowd around and watch and gob on one of them from the sidelines.

have learned a lot off here, and hope to continue to do so. would like to see more technical posts though, and less drivel that belongs in the muppet room in the general section (but that's not saying that mods are not doing a good job, just that idiots who post crap for attention like that will always do it in the busiest forum).

Some things are too heavily moderated (these only seem to be minor trivial things too...not the big arguments)

New members get ingnored, which is not very welcoming to new people

I do also find the clickyness is starting to come back on this BB in certain areas

Overall, I like the site - don't ignore what you feel to be 'minor' issues because these are the issues that new people will pick up on and just disappear

Yes there's shit spoken at times, arguments get out of hand, etc... but then you get that in any community, whether real or virtual.
It's probably the ribbing and crap that make this site better than most of the other forums.
It'd be ever so dull if all you ever read was car related (think anoraks)

Have to say, it isn't as friendly on here as it used to be and there seems to be alot more sniping these days. I've stayed away for some time hoping it would get better but it doesn't seem to have. The thing I find most, annoying I suppose, is the way that people who know stuff seem to think it's alright to take the piss out of those who don't who as much. People seem to forget - we all started out knowing the same - fuck all - and we've had to learn.

Exactly the same thing happened on the RSOC site and I said the same there. Even wrote to Rallye News and the email was published and then wrote a huge email answering the critics who thought I didn't have the bollocks to own up to writing it.

This is a good site, it really is and there are some great people here.............but people need to calm down a bit sometimes IMHO.

The thing how many regular user does this site have,so you will get people with differnt sense of humour,knowledge etc.

But on the whole most of us try to help each other okay it might seem a little clicky at times,but thats cost a lot of peeps on here are now mates.Get that at work in pubs etc it life.

Sometimes I admit I can be a bit, er, tactless..........(!) but sometimes things need to be said. I have no problem at all with voicing an opinion or others doing the same but there's a fine line between stating your case and sometimes being nasty. That was EXACTLY what happened on the RSOC site and that's why I said what I did. Nowhere near as bad on here but it's travelling the same path.

That's my only point, nothing more.

I always on here, top site, 99% of people are sound, the problems regarding bias towards Cosworths and RS Turbo's will always be there I.M.O simply because the vast numbers of people who own them compared to the less well known RS's and fords etc I will always try to help anyone with any car problem, but mist of my knowledge is in cossies and general enineering so I can't really help with stuff about other cars finer points But generally its a TOP,TOP forum, much more accessable that the rsoc etc all the piss taking is fucking funny as well, just does get a bit boring when it gets personal and nasty end of the day if you drive a 1.0 pug 106 and are sound you will get more respect I.M.O than a cock who drives a mega 70000000 BHP cossie
