Also, this is obv a Mk2 Golf, but its a VW Motorsport built car.
Anyone care to tell us what it was for, or anything about it?

Its a Mk1 Jetta, but a special one VW made. Special in a way people who know loads about cars should hopefully know, which is the question really.

The Golf I put up is another example, and some of the more established car geeks in Future Publishing knew about it all along, wheras personally i was amazed.

Yup, Phil got that right!
Was a prototype for rallying, a bit like the Siroccos were, after seeing Audis then new Quattro rally cars.
VW decided to use 2 engines to get 4wd tho!



The VW Motorsport Golf there WAS a campaigned competition car, much like a GrpB car TBH, it competed against em...

Twin engined rally car built back in the 80s by VW. Theres also a Sriococo twin engine.
