I did read your pm and was going to reply later tonight...

I think you mentioned in you thread that the engine cost about Ł800 and thought that it wouldn't be worth spending more than 1k to get it installed.

If the engine physically fits in the hole and needs mounts and driveshaft’s then I could see you spending that sort of money depending on how much time was spent making the mounts don't forget proper custom driveshaft’s (not cut and sleeved) cost about Ł360 plus vat so you can see that the 1k would be easy to hit. Then you have pipe work and gear linkages to sort...

so its going be nearer the 1k mark?

im not overly mitherd bout using the st engine im happy to go down the zetec turbo route but the st engine will make a better car.

any chance of a more acurate quote?

i can dummy fit the engine if needs be to see what space there is

otherwise does anyone want a focus st engine

sound to me as though by martins response you could have this fitted with a good box for a good price , building an engine costs ŁŁŁŁ my engines nearly 2k at the minute doing it properly

the st engine would be a better conversion, pay a grand for fitting it, everyone will love the engine bay where ever you go and you will have a reliable engine

no brainer IMO

true, good power standard with potential for more power easily id imaging, only downfall i can fink of is the extra wieght at the front

that would cost alot to rwd though, stick to fwd and get it fitted, there good engines with potentially more power than any zetec turbo ever surely? people just need to play with them more cuz they havent been around for long, have you sorted out what managment to use? thtat could be expensive

ST conversion will make a cool car.

Zetec turbo conversion will just make it another Zetec escort.

Its gotta be done, if your gonna spend ages and loadsa cash on a project, may as well make it worthwhile.

ST lump would be mint

i cant see the actual fitting in a hole being the issue as the getrag box is smaller than the bc box in your car

the engine is longer but the box shorter and the mk5 escort has a huge engine bay

in volvos and i think the focus the engine mount is on a strutbrace type bar at the top of the engine,, for someone like martin that aint gonna be a issue i doubt

seriously will be cool idea and,,,, well martins gonna do all the hard work
