Default Anyone got a 50" plasma tv? Need help deciding which is

I have £921 to spend in john lewis that we got as wedding vouchers so i want a 50" plasma. Now im not looking to spend too much more on top depending what the tv is.

Now i was looking at this one
http://www.johnlewis.com/Technology/...6/Product.aspx

its £1199 so not bad price. Before anyone says its not 1080 i know and am not bothered.

Now they have another model for sale
http://www.johnlewis.com/Technology/...1/Product.aspx

This one is £899 so i wouldnt need to bung more cash on top.

Spoke to the guy in john lewis today after waiting forever because it was mega busy. he reckons the top 1 has a better processor so is worth more on top.

Dilemma is i also want a 32" lcd for my kitchen so if i buy the cheaper 50 then i can put the £300 towards the 32 and have both.

Has anyone got either telly above and if so what like is it?

Im a bit worried about the sound volume as i cranked it up in the shop and it wasnt that loud altho the shop was v noisy.

Any help welcome please!

Chop, The noticable difference will be Only 2 HMDI's instead of three.... upgraded 2007 version iirc

i've got the 1080p version of the Samsung 50 model number PS50P96FDX.

I'm well chuffed with it! I'm sure just having a 1080i/720P Telly would be just as good.. Only reason i got the 1080p is that i've got a PS3..

50" 1080p + Blu-Ray =

I know you've got a PS3 so would it not be worth spending a bit extra to enjoy blue-ray at full wack on the PS??? Just a thought you know.....

im not mega fussy when it comes to picture quality because sometimes i dont wear my glasses and that can ruin it for starters!

how much extra is the 1080p?

atb the moment i find it hard to pay an extra £300 for the q97 and then whack out another £400 on a 32" lcd for my kitchen.

btw i NEED a 32 as well as i decided and thats that lol

the cheaper one has the better contrast ratio

other than that, between you and me, i can't see a £200 odd difference to be honest

better contrast ratio but lower brightness i think. however i'v been told not to get too hung up on these numbers as higher isnt necessarily better?

theres something to do with an ultra light filter summat or other to help when viewing in different light but is it worth £300?

go to the shops
look at both pictures
get them to get both sets fed from the same source
check the differences that you can actually see

if they are next to each other then that's even better

i was getting all sorts of complicated things such as "the glare from teh lights gives the picture a flatter sheen" so i replied with "can you turn off the lights so i can se what's its like without them on please?" and i got "no sorry sir, we aren't allowed to do that, someone might fall over in the dark"
"have you got a blacket or a screen i can put up to dissuade the light from being reflected directly onto the screen then?"
"no, sorry sir"
"i can see you are going to sell a lot of telly's this month mate" and i walked off

and it wasn't as if it was a big superstore either, it was a little shop the likes of richer sounds and the like, the biger chains are more instrested in selling you the warranty cover, which both of these models have got in the price so you are laughing there

and also notice how the bigger chains don't let you use the remotes to adjust the settings either.............................i wonder why.................?
