Default Shell Diesel prices watch out

Went to Maidstone on Sunday and had to fill up in a shell garage which was prices at 107.8 for diesel ,so i thought fine i will just put in enough to get me back ,because my local sainsbury store is 104.9 (i know but every penny counts when your tank holds £70 )
I was happily filling the van up when i looked at the price of the pump on the display it said £1.12 !
I put in £10 and went to pay and asked the assistant what was going on .
He said we only stock V-power now (which is go faster more expensive diesel)
So i said why was the sign wrong then ,he said its not my fault Shell do the signs .
This is total crap ,ive been to four Shell garages today and it appears that they have about two normal diesel pumps to four v-power pumps with very small logos displaying the v-power logo
So beware when filling up check the price at the pump .
I think its illegal to advertise fuel in this way,so im forwarding a nasty email to Shell for what good it will do .
Im sure a lot of people wouldnt notice and my other half has been filling our 530d for months at the same local garage without knowing .
Bah humbug

Deisel prices are becoming stupid, thats not saying fuel prices wernt stupid already.

ive seen quite a wide range of deisel prices over the past 2 weeks, think the cheapest was 103.9 ranging up to 108.9 and that was just for the normal grade of deisel, let alone the V Power or BP ultimate Derv.

i can honestly say that i can see why more and more people are using the cooking oil mix of late.

i've said already somewhere on this board, one day soon the diesel price will be almost double petrol prices, this is because the government can see that you can get twise the milage of petrol cars.

Ok at the minute its not the govenment and thier shitty tax,but it will come you mark my words.

Not really a con as all the pumps are branded as V Power Diesel, the difference is as clear as V Power and Unleaded.

Does piss you off though.

That reminds me. I was in my local shell station a few weeks ago waiting to pay and a guy comes in and shouts to the cashier

"what is the difference between normal diesel and Vpower diesel?"

"7p a litre" shouts the cashier

"is that the only difference?" replies the guy sounding confused

"yes" replies the cashier

Happened to me a couple of times with the V-power, as my local Shell has one pump v-power, one pump normal all the way down. Hardly anyone uses the v-power and you can be queueing for agaes for normal.

I always check on the display befote filling up as ive been caught out once before with different prices to the board price.

Most people wont even bother about looking for the cheaper stations, although its annoying for them its not really all that much m oney for them. I get the piss taken out of me for shopping around whilst out and about making note of the cheaper stations, but i can use about a tank a day so every penny adds up over the month for me.

I don't shop around as the nearest one is a 18 mile round trip away, just plan so I can use the cossie instead of the 911 turbo, that runs on normal unleaded!!

the duty on diesel has always been more that petrol, iirc in about 2002 it was 72% of the cost of the fuel goes in tax to the government,

and its even more of a con as diesel and petrol are just the waste products from the oil industry

The Esso garage down the road from me has, since xmas eve, been only selling the more expensive diesel, with the normal pumps blocked off, they've also done the same with petrol. When I was in the shop, bloke in front of me was questioning the reason why about the diesel, cashier said they'd run out, so the bloke asks how come the HGV pump aint blocked off then? The cashier couldn't reply.....
