Evening folks,

I have just got ny computer up and running again after having a new hard drive fitted and am having problems with the internet. I am told we have 1mb telewest broadband and I have just downloaded a 1 minute realplayer file which has taken about 15 mins. Now before the machine was fixed it was MUCH faster than that. The thing is everything else works fine i.e. normal webpages load fine but downloads are taking ages, is there anything I can check i.e. connection speed etc ?

Any ideas people ???

Thats a speed test specifically for blueyonder
U shud get about 128kbps down 25.6kbps up

And remeber if its file sharing u can only download as fast as other person can send,

Let us know what speed test shows

Just run the test and the report came up with no problems on all tests and all speeds were above those reccommended.

Any other ideas ???

But let's just say it has an adult content

can't understand it as it used to be SO much quicker

 

it could be the site is limited,
is it just the downloads or the actual response time of sites as a whole?
Have a scan for spyware

 

not sure about the site mate, I'm not computer minded at all I'm afraid

the sites themselves are fine but the downloads are slow

 

try downloading summat from a site u know is fast

try that, nvidia drivers. always maxes me out at 400kbps easy

It'll be the source of the download that's the slow connection. If you have tested the speed of your connection on 2-3 different "test your connection speed" sites and it shows "broadband" type speeds, chances are it ain't a problem with your system.
