PassionFord Post Whore!!
Ian I must admit I did not know they made a new block in 87 so I stand corrected
so it could be the brain hart block thats assuming Steves pic was taken after 87
looks like a alloy block in steves pic it just does not look like the orginal Hart block

Testing the future
this is a translation of the japanese text
After establishing the Company, the first job of Mr. Hasegawa is was to design the 2l DOHC 4valve engine (Named 74E) which was based on the BDA engine of Ford.
Unfortunately the engine was never launched to production due to the reason of investment and so on.
However the design would be base for further engine design.

chain driven early stand up engines , gave way to belt driven laid over SR20's for 95/96 then RML went back to chain until 2000 with the reverse head motors, no ideas whats behind that either .
I think nicks post clears up that this was a test bed design for a "formula "engine , so were all right , bleedin anoraks

Engine
From the picture, that engine has a FORD/Hart alloy block with an early Hart main frame, but the head is not BD/FVA/FVC or Hart 420S/420R/418T.
I will ask the people I know who used to worked at Hart Power and are meeting the man who started the company over christmas.
