whats the best/easiest program/way to take screencaps from a movie file?

 

VLC Media player.... Load up the film, then press SNAPSHOT and it takes a, err, snapshot of it and saves it to your MY PICTURES folder;



Quality is good, depending on source video, course this site resizes pics to make em look shit

 

which button takes a snapshot in VLC?

 

VIDEO > SNAPSHOT

There is a shortcut key like CTRL + S or something but I can't remember it...

I'm running version 0.8.6

If yours is older, just download the latest from the VLC website. Remember to uninstall your current version prior to installing the latest version. Or you could try the CHECK FOR UPDATES option under the HELP menu....
