Clio Williams on throttle bodies much better to drive than the 172 imo, better driving position and a lot more feedback from the car

and they look ace compared to the 172

Thats a bargain by the way.

172's are worth every penny they sell for!

you could also get an E36 M3, 3.0 or an EVO

I know someone selling a fully prepared Fiesta race car for about 5k.

Its a 1.8 iirc, Leda coilovers with remote damping, full custom cage, obviously everything else required for it to be a legal race car but it is road legal.

Probably has a ton of other bits I've not paid any attention to but its going to be a cheap reliable track car.

Judging on the way the 2 1.4 Fiestas ate most things for breakfast at Bedford last year I'd say its definately a sensible track car.

Evo's are great but going to cost a fortune to look after.

I can't say anything bad about the 172 either, my mates was VERY fast on track, handling is superb for a standard car

Clio 172, get great fuel economy if driving sensibly during the week on journeys, plenty of poke and ready set up for the track! If you lukcy may get 182 for that budget

Integra or M3.

Also one of my personal favourites Mitsubishi FTO. Had a play with one of these on the A10 on Saturday night. Was pulling well until the MIVEC kicked in

1.8 running roughly 140bhp. Like I said stayed with it a little bit but didn't stand a chance once was in full swing. I don't know if it was an auto though. A lot of them are, very hard to find them in manual. Same with Toyota Glanza Vs. Ooh another car to add to the list

I'd have an Accord Type R. Great everyday car and also an excellent track car.

Get a decent one for Ł5k then Ł1k on Hondata and uprated brakes.

I've had mine for a while and it's the best car i've had. Great on the road and equally as good on track.
Shows up a lot of more powerful cars.

dont fanny around with little clio's and honda's go for the evo. will be worth the wait to import it but im sure u will find one already imported in the uk you wont regret awesome cars. tough, pack a punch and great handling. 5 and 6 are ones to get much more like a rally car on road. evo 7's onwards are much "softer"

selling my cupra r 225 mate its such a good car, just too expensive to use as an everyday car, youd have to do some suspension mods to take one on track though. they handle ace but when you turn in quick they do wallow a bit, think its just coz there a bigish car though! go for a foc rs in my book mate
