What size is 1/43? Is it comparable to old skool matchbox car size?

I need a comparison, is it like the size of a compact digital camera? (for example)

Ok. Matchbox are smaller than 1:43 but I don't have one...or a ruler on me to confirm the difference

1:43 for an average car is about 3". Def no more than 3.5". I'd guess matchbox about 1/2" smaller

1:64 is smaller than 1:43.
The bigger the number, the smaller it is.
1:1 is real car size, so 1:2 means its half the size, so something that is 60" long on a real car would be 30" on a 1:2 scale model. If it was 1:10 scale the part would be 6" long etc
