Default Digi Camera's - where did you get yours??

As title guys - i'm after getting myself a digital SLR, and have been looking at the Cannon 400D I think it is (roughly £400) and was wondering where you have bought yours from - I've notced there are some cracking deals on flee bay, but am a little aprehensive about spending that much money on there...

Where have you bought yours from / do you know of any good deals at the moment?

Cheers,

Rich

Fleabay is good if you want a reconditioned unit (read the small print - 99% of the EOS400d's on ebay are recons)

I bought mine from Pixmania.co.uk with a load of goodies such as 4 gig memory card, 32-in-1 card reader, extra battery, bag and some other odds and sods for £550 - not the best price, but peace of mind and I have delt with them before, and after looking at battery and memory prices seperately, its not too bad

Don't forget that you can claim £50 back from Canon before the end of December 2007 aswell

Forgot to mention.

Getting the body is only the start - expect to spunk far too much money on accessories and the like. So far I have bought the following extras:

3x Sandisk Extreme IV 4 gig memory cards (£60 - got an ebay bargain here, they are usually £100 each )

1x Canon EF-S 55-200 f4.6 USM lens - £80 brand new (ebay bargain again)

1x Tamron 70-300 telephoto and macro lens - £90 brand new (another ebay bargain)

1x Lowepro Computrekker rucksack for my camera and accessories and laptop - £40 brand new (Ebay again - RRP on this is usualy over £140)

1x Tripod - £30 - you can spend as much or little as you like on a tripod, but ake sure you get a good one that can support the weight of the camera

6x Filters (3x UV and 3x CPL Polarisors) in sizes to fit all 3 of my Len's - £30 (Ebay again, Highstreet shops like Jessops want in the region of £15 to £50 for just one filter)

1x IR Remote for the camera - £10 ebay (normal RRP is about £25)

1x Wired remote with button lock for super long "bulb" exposure - £10 ebay (RRP is £30)

Then you have your consumables aswell if you want to start printing your pictures.

A3 printer - expect to pay upto £400 for a good Epson

A3 Printer Paper - Anywhere from £10 a pack of cheep paper to £50 for the expensive stuff

A4 Printer Paper - £1.50 a pack of 25 for the highest quality if you know where to buy it from

Laminate pouches - A3 - £11 for 100, A4, £8 for 100 if you want to protect your prints from damage, dust, and UV light

Laminator - £20 for a cheep but good quality A3 laminator

Guilotine paper cutter for trimming those panoramic prints to remove the white border - £15

Ink - as much or little as you wish to pay, worth while investing in a good CIS unit with 100ml barrels (equivelent to 10-12 ink cartridges!) if your printer can use a CIS system - £40 upwards

It soon adds up and takes over your life

So far I have spent an estimated amount of £1400 on kit

Oh, Don't forget that if you "buy" any post production software aswell, such as photoshop elements or CS3 then you are talking megabucks

But the rewards are fantastic and well worth the time and effort

Warehouse Express do some cracking deals.

Will be buying the same camera in a couple of weeks so am looking around also.

And memory here

Not sure about lenses yet, looking about and WarehouseExpress are coming up trumps.

Ideal for me as the showroom is about 3 miles away
