Hi all...

Not sure if you can help...got a 1.8 zetec focus...when i stop the revs keep going up but when i depress the clutch they come back down???

Any ideas or shall i burn it?!?!?

 

maf sensor playing up? try disconnecting it then see if this cures the problem. if so you may need a new one.

 

Thanks Phil but what the fook is a maf sensor and where on earth can i find the bloody thing....??!?!?!

 

MAF = mass air flow meter

it sits between the intake hose and airbox , looks like a tube with a black box and plug on top

these are prone to failure but how much are the revs going up ?

The revs keep going until i depress the clutch....if i keep the clutch down the revs come right down to idle and then its fine until i brake again!!!!!

please can i burn it ow if i leave it to keep revving im sure it will just blow up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how far do the revs climb to if left ?

a small increase could be put down to a few things like air leaks etc but high revs could be cruise control playing up

does it have cruise control by any chance ? as this and you right foot are the only thing which can operate the throttle cable and of course the CC is linked into the clutch and brake pedal switches

 

No cruise control im afraid...its a real bobby basic!!

maybe my right foot still tinks its saturday night!!!

I'm at work at the mo so i'll pop out this afternoon and see how high it goes before blowing up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
