XBOX 360 Red Rings of Death Today...
Just turned my XBOX 360 on after 3 weeks sitting in the cupboard and instant 4 rings of death 
I was hoping to never see them
Me Mrs plugged it in as Ive been tempted to get rid of it, so thought she would set it back up to help me decide Think when I get the replacement console it will be going on EBAY.
People wonder why I recommend the PS3

Yep Johnny, its a reasonably old unit now (Bout a year). It has a 3 year warranty with Microsoft, so they will replace it. But I will get a new one with HDMI as a straight swap this week anyway

Premium console mine WAS If I replace it in the future I will go for the Elite as Ive not heard of a faulty one yet (Although other posts prove different).
Just thought I was gonna be a lucky one with a working 360

the new one you will get with the HDMI port is exactly the same as the Elite internally anyways so unless you specifically want the black one you'll be wasting money getting an Elite

I want it to match me TV and PS3 thanks mate and its not much more than a Premium for the 120GB HD, so might aswell get the bigger one. BUT Ive gotta decide if I need a 360 or not as mines been made redundant recently.

Aduz, ok I will just take it back and get the cash
Mate of mine sent his 360 (Non Elite) back to Microsoft and had it replaced. His new one lasted 48hours before red rings

mine as also done the same with the 3 red lights, i am having a play station 3 for xmas but still want to get it fixed to know what was wrong as its only a year old, i was told it was a hardware problem

ive heard of people fitting extra cooling fans etc, seen them for sale on t'internet, just wondering if all these problems people are experiencing are down to the thing overheating.

Mine had been turned off for 3 weeks and came straight up with 4 red lights. Not sure how it could of overheated as it dont get used

4 red rings could be the scart/HD cable not properly connected at the back of the xbox mate as i got this problem the other week with mine !!
Moved things around a bit and must have knocked the cable a bit at the back and never noticed, switched it on and instant 4 red lights !!!
Said FUCK very loudly about a million times before finding the lead not properly connected, pushed it in properly to make a good connection and tried it and spot on
The usual hardware fault with them only gives 3 red lights as this is what my last console did, managed to get it replaced by Microsoft even though it was around 18 months old and i didnt have a receipt as i bought it off ebay when they first came out !!

Rings of death usually mean hardware error. Mine is being sold off the internet to a technical family member and ONLY when Ive replaced the console for a new one
