Stu,

I hope you can appreciate that I (and others) feel a large loyalty to you
mainly due to your personality and expertise NOT because you are/were
the admin of this place.

Its this that has brought out the "waffle" and "bollox" as others have
described, sorry if that has caused any offence to you.

Simon, peoples, including your own, loyalty to me is in fact very touching and i guess until i read this topic tonight i didnt realise a lot of it existed, but its very nice to feel i was actually appreciated and not just seen as a target for all the angry PM's, Phone calls and E-Mails.*

So no, i bear no grudges and thank you all for making PF what it is today... something some fool actually wants to PURCHASE!!

* Amazingly, and this was one of the final straws, i was logging onto my new PS3 to play an online game about 11pm, and i get a private message. It was from some chap off PF complaining i had not read his PM's on Passionford and could i have a look please as its important!!

That is NOT a joke. Bill Will was sat there with me.I was actually speachless.

I won't miss the phone calls to our home landline on a Sunday afternoon moaning about passionford or emails to my work email address at the Hilton asking me if Stu has read his PM's lol

Don't worry guys, if he starts getting under my feet i will soon re-direct him to Passionford

Hats off to you Stu, i know better than anyone the work that you have put into PF for very little gain, it's shows great commitment and dedication, something i am very proud of you for

Define the "Internet" mate. Seeing as i have a modem dealer network of people who fit our software, your father included, yes of course it is a massive part of my business, but what you dont seem to realise, is Fords are a TINY part of our income... Of our 78 dealers, i think 1 is ford only.

The last 10 chips i can think of, top of my head that i supplied on Friday were:

Porshe 996 Turbo
Audi S3 turbo
Vw golf 130Tdi (x2)
Merc E220 CDi
Bmw 335D
Bmw 320D
Audi RS6
vauxhal Vectra 2.2tdi
Saff Cos ALS L8

So yeah, i am still selling cossie chips, and yes, i think the fellas uses PF but i assure you to me Fords are a PASSION not a necessity.

This isnt mentioning my £2K per month advertising campaign either of course. Of which only 1 advert is in a Ford magazine. lol

Stu mate, you seriously need to STFU
why do you spend time defending and justifying yourself to people who enjoy getting reactions from others, the vast majority such as myself could'nt care less about how much money you make or have made from the Ford scene, the internet or videos of your honeymoon let alone anything else.

from the perspective of someone who would actually like to learn something from the talented people on this forum such as yourself and SECS its getting tedious the time wasted in threads such as this

your obviously a clever bloke, but why you get involved with the crap is beyond me sometimes

Well I haven't been on much over the last week and obviously missed quite an important bit of info I only spotted very early this morning just as I was about to leave work. Even then it was Dan's thread on whether any profits should be split between Pet & Stu and had to do a trawl in GD to find what was going on ! Can't belive the americans have invaded France now.

Firstly I'm sure we all agree that we hope Pet's wife and kiddie are going to be fine.
Secondly, thanks to you Stu for letting us know what's going on with the site - even if it could be a backward step imo..we shall see in 2008.

Now, I appreciate and fully understand Stu's initial position on standing down as admin, etc to concentrate on magazine/ business/ married life but don't know much about the man behind the web hosting etc - namely Julien.
Just wondering why he intends to sell the site really. Is it due to his family reasons (again understandable) or for the money aspect? Excuse any ignorance, but I don't know how much websites are worth and even though this is the biggest Ford community website in existence, as said before in the thread: it's not the only one and exclusive: there's loads.
Is the site worth that much to someone else? I don't know, £5000, £15000 ? I really have no idea.

If I had created a site I can't think of many reasons why I'd want to sell it unless I was getting a big benefit from the sale. Does it really generate that much income? How much is the goldmembership & traders fees worth roughly a year? I'm not 100% on how many we have currently of each. Say that was worth £1000 a year (based on 100 goldies @ £10). Take off hosting costs etc, I'd still want a damn sight more than that to sell a site.
And what are the Americans getting (apart from a big site?). The site *possibly seems* to be in a decline over the last month or so. That's how I would view it if I looked back over the last month or so in GD. Have they not read all the threads over the last few weeks trying to improve the general apathy and disharmony among some members to even attempt to better the site by trialing the new phpbb version (for 1 example!) and create a re-newed Ford (BMW/ Audi/ VW/ etc) buzz around the site now the show season is over for another year and many cars are in hibernation.

Is it purely the fact that Julien wants to fully concentrate on his family and wants a quick & easy way out of moving on from PF without many hassles. I don't know what pet's plans and current involvements are? For all I know he may have many websites on the go and this one simply doesn't interest him no more??
I am surprised however that it wasn't offered to Stu initially. Admittedly an American group may have been able to offer more than Stu money wise - but that's not the point after Stu has worked endlessly (imo) on the site and attempting to keep the Ford scene (mainly RS based - granted) growing. Maybe Julien thought as Stu was stepping/ stepped down anyhow that he wouldn't be interested but imo would have been nice to offer.

As for the monetary "rewards" then imo that's purely between Julien and Stu - but needless to say the site would not have ran as it did (good and bad at times) without the work of both of these people. Stu has been a massive part of the success over the last few years and that shouldn't be forgotten -whether that includes any payment or not. I'm sure Stu has gained lots of business from the site. Stu: would you have your magazine features or many bits of trade if it wasn't down to the site bringing your work to people's minds? I'm not saying you're not entitled to use the forum to advertise your business: of course you are & I'm sure you took that into account when setting it up with Julien: but without the advice (freely given on this site iirc ) and help would FF have given you the opportunity to do some writing in the first place? Just a question and observation, not a criticism.

On to the future of PF. Who's gonna be admin firstly? I cannot see it working with US admin controlling a mainly UK based website to the degree we have become accustomed to....unless it is a background server/ update effort only and they are going to rely on mods in the main for the day-to-day running/ editing etc? Who are they going to choose to do moderating? They don't know anyone on PF (unless they've been members for a while) so don't know who would be good or bad or even if existing moderators would like to continue that 'job'.
They don't know the UK scene - which is where most of the site & events on PF are based. Flipping that over - would anyone like to run a US based website and keep it up-to-date ref shows/ events/ in another country but not physically be there to get involved with anything the members are mostly talking about?
Adverts are a step back on the PF we know imo. No-one likes adverts - especially the non-related ones. Current ones are relevant to the forum. Lots of other adverts ruin forums imo and are a quick way for members to become fed-up of it and move on. I realise it is currently like that on other sites, but I'm sure if you gave members the choice they would remove them if they could.

I fear that PF has already evolved over the last few months - maybe not in the right direction and hope that the new owners don't continue with that trend by making loads of forced changes that members don't like. It would be a real shame for PF to continue on a decline and finish after all the work Pet, Stu, Mods and members have put in to make the site something to be proud of.

Almost Christmas, so let's have some cheeriness back in the site before 2008...then we'll see what happens in the New Yr.
