looking at buying one this weekend

whats the best to go for?, is it the 60gb or 40gb version

apart from the backwards compatibility, bigger drive and extra 2 usb ports is this the only difference? not really fussed on the backwards compatibility bit as wont be using any older games

i got a 60gb a few weeks ago.....love it

 

apparently the 4ogb item doesnt have the slots for putting phone/camera memory cards in,sony have discontinued the 60gb console now so whatever the shops have in stock is all thats left once there gone thats it

 

ive just pre-ordered grand theft auto IV,, ill buy a ps3 when its ready to be sent to me

 

i have a 60gig bad boy. i think theres a difference with the net surfing on the 40. perhaps you cant? not 100% on that.

 

I hummed + harred about this myself... 60gig one does have wifi aswell that the 40gig one hasn't! Ended up with a 40 and i'm happy with it

But at the end of the day i have a PC at home so didn't need the wireless for internet only for the playstation network. I could link up the PS3 to the modem with a 5quid cable which you wouldn't see behind the telly stand anyway...

Got a blinding deal from Blockbusters of all places!!! I got the following...

Whats this talk of the 40GB not being able to go on the net thats like saying ive just bought a brand new car, except its the version that cant get wet

Just found out the girlfriend was going to get me a PS3 for christmas but after finding out the 60gb is discontinued she was fuc**d. So a mate of ours is a general manager for GAME and he told her that wait till january - feb time and get the new 80gb version. this is the better 1 with something called sony TV! this is a software where you can download things from the net onto the hard drive. like films etc. It going to be the same price as the 60gb.

I'd rather wait till then.

i've had mine for several months now.....excellent for watching blu ray and also use it for a quick browse on the nett.

Ive heard rumours of the 80gb Console, but not heard anything official yet! As soon as I know something official I will let ya all know

But IMO Sony will not release it Jan/Feb or they will be shooting themselves in the foot! If people know a better version will be out in 2 months they will wait and not buy for XMas. I maybe wrong tho.
