Default ST170 to 2.0 Tdci Focus??

Hi all

I drive a ST170 which I love, but with the amount of miles i'm doing nowadays, its denting my pockets. So, i'm looking at a 2.0 Tdci Focus to replace it (am I getting old?).

Question is, what mpg does the 2.0 Tdci tend to give you in the real world?? On the routes I do im getting 30mpg out of the ST (nearly meeting the claimed figures - wow!), but claimed figures are not my favorite reading.

I'm not dumping my 170 unless its really going to be worth it, and as I like a good burst of power, I figure the 2.0 might be the way to go. Maybe i'm not that old yet...

I do get tired of diesels leaving me from low revs lol.

Chipped hey? How much of a difference does that tend to make to them then? I'm a newbie to diesel!

the 2.0 tdci is a fantastic car.

although, i drove a 1.8 tdci last week and was a little disappointed by the fuel economy, 33mpg on the display & about 275 miles to a tank which was somewhere in the region of £60

plus factor in...
although better ecconomy, rond here diesel is 6p a litre more expensive. diesel cars are normaly more expensive to buy. service items are often more expensive...

how much will you save?

Well this is what i'm trying to work out. Mileage can be anywhere between 200 - 500 per week. If I change i'd be hoping to score at least 45mpg+ in the real world... otherwise i'd be pining for the 170

What would really be nice is if car companies had to give you real mileage before you buy, instead of the inflated lab figures they proudly bandy around.
