Default General Discussion.. post time limit

What did everyone in here think to my suggestion that people can post a topic that requires help or discussion in GD and we leave it for 24hrs.

After that it is moved to correct room.

This will give time for emergencies to be answered, and decent topics to build up into something interesting before it is moved.

Links / vids / bollox can be moved as normal.

That was everyone "should" be happy.

Discuss.

The only thing is, if it stops getting replies there is a chance it would just drop into the mists of time in GD and go un-noticed

But atleast it would be in the correct room for later reference, which was one of Stu's reasons for stuff being moved into their correct sections!

Maybe we simply always keep an eye on teh first 5 pages of Gd for incorrectly placed topics. Shouldnt go any further in 24hrs.,

Great idea

Is this going to flag automatically somehow? Or are going to be looking through the last 24 hours posts in gd?

Might be worth setting a specific time each day if the idea does get adopted, saying we go through them 7-8pm or something like that? When most people are online

Its not working IMO.
Everyone is just posting in GD, getting the answers they want within the 24 hours and it just slips into the background.
Ive just tried again to move some threads to the correct technical areas, its too time consuming! I had to go back about 2 or 3 pages to find something old enough to move, each topic had all the replies it needed and probably wont be looked at again by the starter, so no benefit is had in moving it.

I feel more and more good sensible threads will now get lost in the back of GD rather than them being moved to the relevant technical one where 1)they are easier found in the future for people looking for them, and 2)its not encouraging people to use the correct sections
