Default Tyre size for 9" wheels??

Got some 9x18" RL7's, and need to know what size tyres to get really??

I already have 2 brand new 225/40 -18 F1 gsd3's that I was going to get fitted to my super T's I could maybe use those for the front but get some bigger (wider) ones for the rear??

Escos btw, so need to consider keeping the rolling radius quite close to each other.

Also, what are peoples opinions on using 3mm spacers - I have caliper/spoke issues with the 2 et25's I have (the 2 et20's are fine)??

Just been using this tyre size calculator that martin popped up with a while ago.....

How far out percentage wise can you go with a 4x4 front to rear??

I'd like to keep a 40 profile ideally (or equivalent sidewall)

You really want the same all round on 4x4 Cossie.

Hub-centric spacer should be fine - Martin can sort them.

You can't really use different f/r height tyres without scrapping the centre VC.

All the wheels are 9" wide, but for example......

a 225/40-18 does 829.3 revs per mile

a 255/35-18 does 831.3 revs per mile

they are within 0.24% of each other.

I'm not suggesting I use these size tyres - just an e.g.

The calculator doesn't take into account the rim width the tyre is fitted on though, just advises on the width the tyre CAN go on.

Basically I was wondering if there was any advantage with going wider on the back? Obviously you don't want to go too wide on the front with the spring cup clearance.

255/35x18 are the same height as your 225's > 636mm

Way i read it was that Kev has now got a set of 9x18's and wants to fit the two 225/40/18's that he already has lying onto two of them then fit wider rubber to the back two wheels. Dont think the 225's would work on 9x18's as they are a bit narrow.
Dont think he means running 2 super t's and 2 RL7's.

Kev, bin the 2 tyres you have, or keep them for spares for the Super T's.

just buy 4 brand new tyres all of the same size.

They were for the super T's anyway as the fronts are worn.

Was just checkin things out - same size all round it is then!!

What about the spacers martin?? There's 5mm difference in the offset. I have 2 et25's and 2 et20's. The 20's are fine, but the 25's only just bind up on the caliper / wheel spokes

I reckon 2 or 3mm may be enough. Or dare I say it - shave a bit off the
calipers!! (got any red paint??)

I have the 330 4 pot AP's on the back

I'm not too keen on the spacer idea myself
