Default any docs or nurses present!!!

Got home from work today to find this letter from the NHS....sent to me and the cardiologist.

blah blah blah.......ecg,which shows evidence of a shortened PR interval with a possible delta wave with a pre-excitation syndrome. This could be the cause of his pre-syncopal and syncopal symptoms and he needs an urgent cardiological review.

What the F*** does it mean.....should i be worried!!

It sounds like you may have what they call Stokes-Adams syndrome. Basically what this means is you can suffer a simple faint or temporary loss of consciousness due to cerebral anaemia. This is often caused by dilatation of the peripheral blood vessels and a sudden fall in blood pressure. If it is not sorted out you could go into complete heart block, your heart may stop beating but you will continue to breathe and your heart then has to return to its own ventricular beat.
I am not trying to spook you but it does need sorting sooner rather than later, it is easy enough to rectify so when you get an appointment, best go and see what they have to say.

Hope this helps.

To understand what they are saying you need to be in the medical profession and to be able to understand the basics of cardiology, i cant believe they sent that letter to you!!

anyway basically when you have an ECG done they check for abnormalitys in the PQRST waves,, this may help.. http://www.tveatch.org/ekgs/pqrst.html...

& From that they can see many things, hence the shortened wave P & R, its just how they measure the waves LOL.

So in short you have something wrong with these waves and they way your heart runs, alot of the time things like this can be controlled by medicine but i dunno as you have the tumor i wouldnt like to say for sure.
