Havan`t done it for a while, but a key to it is having the momentum to keep sliding. 2nd or 3rd gear, and obviously LSD or a welded diff helps alot, personally, i don`t ue the handbrake, and i`ve seen people drift up to 100mph in which you need to have big balls...

I`m sure someone will help me out but its about getting the car in the right position from the start, turning sharply on a bend and applying the accelarator at the same time (i`d try using second).

are yo on about a game or real drifting?

people often think that you need to keep the throttle planted, and having done some drifting in a car, that is not the case at all

too much man foot will end in a spin.

you are constantly dipping the clutch when the front end looses grip, or start to spin, try to keep to about 1/2 - 3/4 throttle until the car is balanced then you can use full power

different corners and speeds use different initiations

a slow tight corner will need a clutch kick, keep the throttle on and quickly dip the clutch and dump it to get the wheels spinning

a long straight into a medium speed corner can use the handbrtake on the straight to get the car sideways, then release the clutch and apply power

or you can do it via weight transfer, scandinavian flick type of thing to transfer the weight and get the car sideways

ive tried it on GT4 and its almost impossible as you cant dip the clutch etc

just a RWD car and do it for real lol

ps in our old drift shitter i would only use 2nd or 3rd gear, had no power for fourth

chip however only likes doing in first, which was a bit pants as you were always on the limiter

donuts are for 1st, not drifting lol

Dan 2nd I found ok too but I just couldnt get on with 3rd as Im a typical cossie owner who relies on power to make the back come out, which is NOT how you are meant to drift really, its all about weight transfer, im just not good enough at it, lol

My nova I was doing it in 3rd at much higher speeds but thats got more than double the power of your sierra.

Agreed, but TBH drifting isnt really something im massively bothered about, I prefer trackdays.

I'll keep doing the occasional practice day though and slowly getting better

ps to transistion, ie change drift direction from left to right or vise versa, you also just dip the the clutch and the front end grips the flings the car the other way lol

LFS is the bollocks, just keep practising you are learning to drift in a computer game, nothing like real life so just keep playing!

And balls to initiate it. A bit like wheelying on a bike. First several times are scary untill you get the hang of it.

im really good at drifting on any game, but the thing is i cant give tips

i dont know how i do it i just do, you get your own techniques. and on games where you can set cars up its much better, like forza

you just need BIG BALLS!

scandanavian flick and plant the throttle does it for me, although without a LSD you gotta get that sideways momentum up a lot before applying opposite lock

also as stated above, toggle between 20% and 80% throttle until the car sits sideways nicely

and dont do it near kurbs

try a front engined rear driver first,it should be a little easier than a mid engined car(if it is realy like an mr2).

IMO its nowt to do with that either, its purely how fast you going.

If you going fast enough throttle position and therefore having an open diff dont matter.

So its much harder and becomes a pain in the ass very rapidly, but it your properly hanging it out with an open diff it at least proves you going balls out and not just relying on power oversteer.

On a game you can crash 1,000,000,000 times. Try doing that IRL

I have never drifted with a lsd. Only with a, slightly lowered, standard Sierra. Imo, the trickiest part is getting it to center again. It's kind of unpredictable when the rear tyres are going to grip again.

Like most things once you have got over te shit i might total the car, you start to get better.
Most people i know with decent power rwd shit it the minute the back end starts to get a little wobble on, me in my E30 i just get the fuck on and go for it, try new things, new ways and teach myself...As stav has said before its all about seat time.

if you go to garage, then car, you should be able to use the xrt!!

You have to pay to unlock or use the keygen but that would be illegal and irrisponsible
