Default MOT - Testers or Mondeo help

My TDCI has failed its MOT on an oil leak

now im sure that there is a quantified number stated in the guidlines in mm cubed that the car has to leak in a period of time

are there any MOT testers who know what it is

as for the mondeo its leaking slightly and its eminating from the o/s area by the wishbone driveshaft , its dripping down onto the subframe , any ideas ?

the bloke who has failed it doesnt know where its coming from ,

Not brake fluid leaking down onto the wishbone or driveshaft? Sounds like the guy couldn't be arsed looking!

I am a current MOT tester !

Oil contamination on brake discs is a failure item (but you have not mentioned oil on discs !) so what the tester should have done is aborted test due to :-

"vehicle being presented in a condition not allowing said vehicle to be checked correctly"

ie, oily and dirty

Steam clean it off and try again if thats all it failed on !

Not the testers "job" to identify where oil is leaking from but only to state vehicle has an apparent oil leak !

Imagine if during a test the VOSA/MOT tester says you have an oil leak from head gasket

Owner then replaces head gasket and oil still leaks because it was from somewhere else !!!!!

VOSA can insist that the MOT station refunds or reimburse the owner for mis-diagnosis

During MOT test a tester can/will only pass an opinion on ANY items/faults found at time of test - nothing more !

A garage charging £50 - £60 - £70 per hour etc for diagnosis is a different matter
