still struggling to remove gearbox mount? help needed please

Default still struggling to remove gearbox mount? help needed please

ive been struggling removing the gearbox mount from my mk3 escort, so i opted for burning it off:



got the rubber off (out the way any how) but now im stuck with the bush on the mount which i cant remove? i

is there something that needs doing which maybe ive missed? cheers

note that the bush on the thread is what should be in the mount which is in the picture.

just cut it off with a angle grinder,and replace the bolt.

is that a commonly done thing? just made me think of dremeling it off?

bolt the rubber mount into the corner piece on the car. The leg is then easier to get on/off with nothing on it

That bush should be fitted with 2 bolts into the corner piece on the front of the car. It shouldnt be attatched to the alloy leg

i know what u mean but it goes over the arm/thread in the pic but cant put it on it coz of the metal sleeve thing?

That will just be the corroded alloy holding it in.

You have 2 different metals (steel and alloy)

Cut it off and you run the risk of having the bit stuck inside without being able to use the rest as a lever to get it off.

A good soak in WD heat up the bolt, a vice and a lump hammer should break the corrosion crud and free it up.

When you rebuild the new one use copperslip on the surfaces to stop it sticking.

Its the same as having an alloy wheel stuck to the face of a hub the two metals just need a whack to free them

u saying if i put a nut on the end of the stud i should be able to hit it out once its heated etc?

think im gona dremel it , poxy bloody things lol, was nothing wrong with it in the 1st place just fitting them coz i have several new ons lol
