Default Car storage / workspace uxbridge

Not sure if this is likely to apply to anyone on here or not, but Ive just found a space in a workshop for my car, and there are other spaces available if anyone is interested.

Not particuarly cheap, 150 quid a car a month, but that includes light and electric and 24 hour access to work on your car, no noise restrictions etc in a good secure unit.

If thats of any use to anyone, drop me a PM for some details.

its expensive for a garage space

unless theres a large workshop you can use with space in it

i pay 14 quid a week for my garage ( the cabrio will be back one day,,, honest ) and got a generator ( ok im stealing the electricity from the maintanace cupboard 100 feet up through where the water pipes are fed down the flats above the garage but i was gonna get a generator )

150 is cheep for a workshop,, average for a "space" imo

I agree for just storage that would be beyond expensive and on to taking the piss, but its not, its light and electric too and PLENTY of space to work on your car, not idea picture as can only see the lah he wasnt stood in when he took the shot but you get the idea.

If it was just for storage you could fit 40-50 cars in there probably, but with people being able to have plenty of space to work round them he is putting a cap at about 20.

Would be absolutely awesome if loads of people do it as well as one of the things I hate about working on cars is it can be a bit lonely etc stuck in the garage, so if there is a good bunch of lads around it will be a lot more fun, not to mention there will always be someone to shout "give us a hand with this please mate" to when you are on something that needs more than 1 pair of hands

in that case chip this IS a good deal

i was thinking a left hand corner of a arches garage if that makes sence

now im starting to get temped

problem though for me would be tools,,,,, or trusting what other mates they may take up the garage whilst im not there ect

is a good deal if a load of mates all chip in

PS: my boss is looking for new premises to expand hes business if you heard of anywhere north london way give me a shout

TBH I wont be leaving any tools there anyway, as I'll be coming and going between there and my other place, so will just chuck my toolbox in the boot of my car when I need it, but like anything in life, thieving cunts are everywhere so I certianly wouldnt take anything for granted.

yeh if there were loads of propper enthusiasts all chipping in together and we could help each other out but it would have to be very trusting. i no mines only a fiesta but its alot more then that to me!!

thats the trouble when looking for a garage, i dont trust lock ups 100%

There are plusses and minuses to it being shared workspace of course, personally I would sooner be on an industrial estate and attached to a business where people often work during the night etc than dumped in a council lockup or whatever, but neither is as good as tucked up in the double garage at home with an alarm, but then this is aimed at people who dont have that option or have more cars than they can fit in their own garage.
Id strongly recomend insuring your car wherever its parked though of course!

Its NOT me mate, im literally just doing the same as everyone else and paying my 150 quid a month to be there (as is a mate of mine) assuming that he gets enough people take it up to balance the books for the rent he pays, its ongoing indefinately.
(he rented two units but only needs one now. he is a petrol head so thogut this might be more fun than handing the other one back)

First come first served though and obviously limited spaces, so only way to guarentee you get a space in the new year would be to pay from sooner than that even if you dont have your car there yet I guess, or I can PM you the guys details and you can discuss with him if he would take a deposit.

For me its a godsend as I end up with naff all to do a lot evenings when im working up here away from home, so to be able to go and tinker with one of my cars till gone midnight is spot on

Might even stop renting a room up here and kip there midweek too LMAO

cant think why though

seriously chip its a good deal when you look at it NOW

im VERY tempted tbh,,, well if it wasnt for me having access to the mechanics in the garages i deal with charging me 20 quid a hour labour rates

if i wasnt i that position i would take it

i was gonna rent a lock up with a bloke from here for 50 quid a week to part a car in

LOL

Actually, not a terrible idea in some ways, wouldnt need a space inside though as there is parking outside that I could stick a camper van, I might actually consider that at somepoint in the future

I always wanted to be a PROPER pikey

PS

In all seriousness though, a rotor for people to stay over 1 night every 3 weeks would mean free security, and I would be well up for kipping there on a campbed once every few weeks to guarentee it stayed secure

If anyone who rents the space needs any specific tools, ive got most stuff, like leakdown tester, or wants me to check out their fuelling on the wideband, or needs an engine crane etc, so if you let me know when you need it, I'll bring it up, thats the cool thing about all being at the same spot

Only thing that woud concern me is the people whom wil be in the garage....

Im very very wary of who knows things about my cars and parts...

If itss a close bunch of friends then but it only takes friends of friends to come round and tell there friends friends at the pub that there is a unit, with x cars with x amount of bhp etc

1
2
3
4 ......cars

Make sure you know who is who and that it is nice and secure..

Lovely size workshop/gargae though

Id be inclined not to put a mint rs500 in there covered in valuable bits, but if you are building a track car up from a shell or something, its ideal.

Plus whatever way you look at it, most people looking for covered workspace are presumabley not in a position where they have facilities at home, so are probably parked on the street and hence totally and utterly insecure currently anyway.

i pay 40 quid a month for my lock up but it has no electricity.

This sounds great and is only down the road from me but its almost as much as what my track car is worth
